Speckled Trout Fishing on Galveston, TX Seawall

Well the night started off with a text message from one of the Ortiz brothers telling me to check the water out on the seawall. This either means two things. The water is going to be super nice and we are going to go fishing or the water isn't going to be so perfect and we are going to go fishing! So I got in my car and drove down to check out the water. It was nice! Either way we were going to go and catch some fish!

The night started off kinda slow for everyone but me.... I think I caught two limit of fish before anyone caught one fish! LOL this was fun. Even though you could see fish everywhere they were not biting unless you had a certain color and weight. But once they figured out how the Speckled Trout were biting and what they were biting everyone started tearing them up. Not to long after we had limited out! This was the best trout fishing I have ever seen. One of the trout I had caught was as big as my arm!

Eric and Evan's Limit

The next night the brothers were out there again. Again the night started out really slow but once everyone figured out how the fish were biting they caught their limits. This night the wind had picked up and the fish were being really tough. Phil and Brother kept saying they are out there we just have to find the pattern. And after a while of throwing they found it and tore the fish up!

These guys make some of the best Fishing Lures on the market! Its just about finding the right color and right  fishing pattern for the fish that night. By the end of the night everyone was throwing the same lure and getting multiple bites on the same cast. But we were all fishing with the same two lures at the end of the night as well.
Their Flounder Pounders are great for Flounder. Guess what? Their Speck Rigs are super for Specks! These guys fish certain lures to catch fish and they work! I suggest going to their website and getting your baits from them. They have baits for all kinds of fish not just Flounder!

Going Flounder Fishing in the Morning | Galveston Ship Channel

Tomorrow I am hitting the Galveston Ship Channel to see if any big flounder are hanging around. I am going to be fishing with Flounder Pounders pumpkin body with chartreuse swirly tail. My buddy Mike will be tagging along also. He is going to be using the clear body tube with the red straight tail. This lure has done very well for me earlier this year. Lets hope the fish are hanging around the usual honey holes!

We went fishing this afternoon in the surf. The Whiting were running good. After 45 mins of being in the cold water we had to call it quits. We ended up catching 7 nice Whiting and lost a couple more. They made for a nice little fish fry.

Well wish us luck!! Hope the Flounder are hitting in the morning! After fishing we have a class to teach at CSI: Combat Sports Institute. Then we are going to go out and try to catch a couple more flounder. I hope they are hitting good tomorrow! Cant wait to get the line wet!

Where to Fish in Galveston Texas?

The flounder run is over and the cold weather is here. All of the water in west bay is super clear and the fish are staying in the deep. I do not have a boat so that really sucks!!!! I was thinking about doing a little wade fishing down at the San Louis Pass but my work has kept me pretty busy.

When I am not fishing I am teaching Mixed Martial Arts on the Island. We have classes Monday through Saturday. This weekend we have our third Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament. All the guys that are competing should do good. I cant want to post the results!
I need to know were the fishing is good in January. I live down here in Jamaica Beach so if the fish are biting in west bay let me know!

Going Fishing in the Morning!

Well from what I have been reading the flounder will probably be staying in the bays this year. The bays are full of bait and the flounder are chowing down on all of it.
So this has brought me to the conclusion that I should hit the water in the morning and just try to bring back some of those flat fish.

Tomorrow I will be taking my mom fishing. Last time I did that she caught a fish on the first cast and then wanted to go home.... Which is really weird because she loves to fish almost as much as I do. But her wanting to go home and us actually doing it was not going to happen.

Well its time to get to sleep and get mentally prepared to tear up those fish tomorrow!!!
I will be using Flounder Pounders and nothing else!
